Scattered showers before 11am, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5pm. Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 83. Southwest wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Half an inch of rain last night was a good refresher, not enough to really change anything permanently, but a much needed soaking rain!  Creeks remain clear to slightly stained with temperatures in the low 60s.  It is time to start watching water temperatures.  Anything over 65 is going to be poor fishing.

Still seeing some fish sipping spinners in the morning, then quickly retreating to cover when the sun starts to shine on the water.  Casting a beetle with a bead head below it tight against the bank will get some fish out to play.  A handful of caddis dries are working, mostly in dark colors, and we are seeing some lighter colored mayflies later in the evenings as well.

Creeks are low and super clear with temperatures right around 60.  Some of the larger, slower moving creeks are getting surface temperatures that are in the mid 60s, we suggest avoiding fishing in water over 65 degrees.

Strange bug days are here.  We are still seeing rusty spinners in the very early morning, and some PMDs and Sulphurs in the very late evenings.  Sprinkle that with some caddis (Splitsville caddis in peacock!) during the day, and you have what’s on the menu.  If nothing is rising, using a large ground beetle with a Spanish bullet below will catch fish in the riffles, even in the bright sun.

Sunny, mild and pretty boring weather overall.  The bright sun is not helping things along, however we have seen the return of some caddis the past day or two.  Watch for aggressive rises and even some small clouds of black caddis out there.

Most of the day we are fishing beetles with bead heads below them.  Night time mousing has started to pick up too.

Nothing all that important to report.  The creeks are still a touch warmer than normal for this time of year.  We’re doing well with rusty spinners in the morning to rising fish until the sun hits the water.  After that, we are fishing terrestrials with a dropper all day long.  In the evenings we are getting a few fish feeding on lighter colored mayflies on the surface again.

Warmer than normal for this time of year, but not horrible.  The dry fly fishing remains elusive with hatches sparse and unpredictable.  You really have to find both the pods of happy fish, and the small swarms of mayflies or caddis, mostly in the evenings.  The good news is that the subsurface fishing is very good.  Smaller flashy nymphs with a thin profile are doing quite well out there.  We are still fishing them below a beetle or hippie stomper as an indicator.
