Cold and sunny today, with a very cool night last night will put insect and fish activity in the slow lane today. Look for fishing to start around 11 and start to drop after 3:30. Most activity will be sub surface on scuds and midge larvae, but with the sun shining there is a chance of an afternoon olive or midge hatch.

- Fishing: Good
Today is the last day before an ugly cold front hits the area on Tuesday. Fishing during the warmer weather and rain has been quite good as it has stirred some bug activity sub surface and the fish gorged themselves.
Scuds and pink squirrels were the ticket.
Look for fishing to drop over the next few days until this cold front settles over the area. Then we have the window of about 11 to 3 for good winter fishing.

Weather is across the board lately, but thankfully it has not gotten too cold to drop water temperatures to 40. They are in the mid to high 40s in the afternoon depending on where you are fishing in Iowa. The closer to 50 the better.
We are still seeing a handful of olives hatch, but midges are starting to become a much stronger dry fly lately, and will continue to be so through the colder months ahead.
Scuds and midge larvae are the hot patterns sub surface, as well as leeches twitched very slowly in the deeper slower runs.

Weather is horrible, but the fish do not mid too much. Cold, wet, and windy. Not comfortable to anglers, but the fish are already wet!
Hatches will be suppressed and during a small window to time during the warmest part of the day (1-3 p.m.) Otherwise fishing pink squirrels, scuds, and small mayfly nymphs will catch fish.

Another gorgeous day with temps in the mid 50s. Look for fish to be active from about 10:30 to 3:00 this afternoon when the olives and midges are hatching the thickest.
Otherwise twitching a leech or thin mint through the slower runs and pools will get some aggressive fish.
Water temps are still hitting the low 50s which is absolutely prime for activity this time of year. With night time temperatures dropping over the next week take advantage of these perfect fall conditions.

Windy today, but the last day the temps will be in the 60s. The weather has been gorgeous, the fishing fantastic. Fishing yesterday afternoon was dry fly only! Olives and midges hatching all afternoon.
Fish are also eating heavily weighted leeches, and scuds and olive nymphs drifted through the deeper holes.
