February 29th Fishing Report

Sunny, with a high near 48. Breezy, with a south wind 11 to 16 mph increasing to 17 to 22 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph.
Yesterday's chill was brutal, but things are starting to warm up on land, and under the surface of the water.
As the water starts warming up watch for more fish activity, especially mid day.  We haven't hit the magic 50 degrees yet (olives, stonefliy hatch etc)  but are still seeing pods of fish feeding on midges and winter stoneflies on the surface.
Subsurface scuds, leeches and streamers have been the way to fish.  A large scud with a small, thin bodied bug below has been excellent right below the riffles.
Creeks are very low and clear, and fish are spooky.  Approach the water with caution!
