July 28th Fishing Report

Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 1pm. Cloudy through mid morning, then becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 82. Light and variable wind becoming west 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
A little light rain this morning dropped the humidity and cooled things down.  After a scorcher of a weekend temperatures are slightly dropping and stabilizing.  It is still summertime so please use a thermometer.  Anything over 65 will be poor fishing and much higher can be stressful to trout.
The large storms passed mostly south of the shop over the last few days leaving our creeks clear to slightly stained.
Tricos are very sparse, as are other hatches.  Rising fish are concentrated mostly in the mornings and evenings.
The major surface activity right now is on beetles, hoppers and ants.  Foam patterns with a dropper below are key to success!
In more stained water, scuds and pink squirrels.  In clear water, fish thin bodied patterns like spanish bullets and perdigons.
Mid day, fish are in the shade.  Fish tight to the banks and underneath overhanging vegetation.
