August 27th Fishing Report

Isolated showers before 10am, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. West wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Chance of rain tonight and into tomorrow, the Friday rain totals keep climbing as weather is pushed around by the hurricane in the south.  As scary as the rainfall looks, it is MUCH needed right now.  The ground is very dry and much of the rain will be soaked up.  We just have to hope it comes in a long rain storm instead of a brief gully washer.
 Still quite hot today.

Overall fishing has held up a bit on the smaller creeks and springs.  The larger bodies of water are flowing too warm for good fishing.  Please use your thermometer!!  Anything over 65 will be slow fishing and much higher than that can be lethal to trout.

The trico spinner fall is happening in the morning, but it still just isn't great this summer.  You will have fish rising and bugs falling but it isn't excellent.  Overall terrestrial fishing is the way to go.  You can fish a hopper and dropper all day long!  If you want to get a bit fancier, toss an ant or beetle under overhanging vegetation or near undercut banks.  If you let them sink a bit naturally they are even more successful.
Night time fishing has been good as well.  Fish are hitting mice and larger streamers under the cover of darkness.
